TECHNOLOGY OR TRADITION? BOOK FORM OR DIGITAL?

Nowadays, it has been observed that the population of users of digital books is constantly increasing. Of course, there are several diametrically opposed views on this subject, causing a little competition between fans of the e-book and the book form.

That is why I decided to write this article in order to describe, from my point of view, the advantages and disadvantages of the two types of books and, also, my personal experience as a reader.

Above all, it is a fact now that online books can be transported everywhere with absolute ease via mobile phones. In addition, it has been shown that the so-called e-books are incomparable more economical but also many of them can be found for free over the internet. In addition to these, most readers tend to read a book for just one time, since we think that the repetition of them is meaningless, as we already know its contents. In this case, digital books, especially those provided in their free form, are much more convenient as you will not have to buy a book that will then remain in the library for centuries.

On the other hand, for the bookworms who have an opposite opinion and wish to re-read their favorite books, this is a negative point as it is not easy to maintain a large number of digital books due to the limited storage space of electronic devices. Another drawback of this type of book is that the frequent exposure to the harmful light of electronic devices is not at all beneficial for human vision but is also particularly tedious.

On the contrary, as far as printed books are concerned, it is widely believed that the "royal throne" belongs to them because they provide the aura of "aesthetic" but also a cheerful atmosphere. There is no doubt that the population of their users is much higher than that of conventional books.

As mentioned earlier, it is commonly accepted that reading a book offers a calm and warm atmosphere that is suitable, especially for cold winter days. It is also worth mentioning that the printed book satisfies, both figuratively and literally, almost all human senses. In more detail, the particular and unique smell of the paper and its sense of touch make the classic book too attractive to the reader.

Moreover, a printed book not only constitutes a collector's piece for the library of the bookworm but also enables it to create its own notes on it.

Personally, I prefer classic books and the traditional way of reading, but I also believe that we should not underestimate the qualifications of e-books.

To sum up, we can point out that the reason we read a book is for its content as well as the knowledge it has to offer and not for the paper on which it is printed. This means that it does not matter if it’s a digital book or printed, as long as we remain satisfied with its inner world.
